I believe I understand how the family must feel about the collection money being stolen. Several years ago I lost my 8 year old daughter and the Money Back stores were kind enough to set out collection jars for us. From what I understood, two males reached down into a jar, first one then the other, grabbing what they could and fled.
It wasn't the money that they stole, it was the fact that someone could do that, knowing it was there for a cause. There are people in the world that really don't care what they do. I'm sure the two men never gave a thought about us, or my little girl, or the family of Joseph “Peace” Boison when this crime was committed.
I'm sure Mr. Boison's family, like we were, are suffering immeasurable pain and what was apparently a quick way to make a few bucks to someone, made the family feel violated and only added even more pain during a time of grief.
When you see a collection jar sitting out in a store like ours were, don't feel obligated to contribute to it, because you arn't. Just please remember, a good person put it there for a reason and other good people dropped a coin or a bill in for a good reason. The collection jar may be for your family one day.
