For the second straight season, the Callaway Cavaliers are playing for a region championship.
The Cavaliers outlasted the Manchester Blue Devils 56-52 Saturday night to advance to the Region 5-AA title game.
The Cavaliers (17-7), who fell to Manchester in last year’s region-title game, will take on the Lamar County Trojans (16-10) at 8:30 p.m. today at Pike County High in Zebulon.
Whatever happens to-night, the Cavaliers will host a state-tournament game this weekend.
Against Manchester, D.J. Rutledge led the way with 18 points, while Quantavius Leslie scored 14 points.
Quan Bray chipped in with 10 points.
Callaway and Lamar County split their two regular-season meetings.
Callaway won 76-67 in December, and Lamar County won 73-63 in January.
