The driver at first refused to give his name at first or say if he had a valid driver’s license. After obtaining a name and license, police found an active warrant through the Troup County Sheriff’s Department for terroristic threats.
Police also found several plastic bags containing the drugs inside the vehicle.
The suspect, Demetrius, Dowell, 19, of Forrest Avenue, was charged with cocaine and marijuana sale with possession and intent to distribute both drugs and obstruction of an officer.
Hit and run
The driver of a blue Toyota pickup truck ran a stop sign at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Juniper Street and struck another vehicle’s passenger side before fleeing. The amount of damage caused is undisclosed.
Burglary
A thief stole $120 from a residence in the 100 block of Old Hammett Road. No signs of forced entry were found, police said.
Vandalism
A vandal damaged a residence’s bedroom window and a glass table in the back yard in the 100 block of Brenda Boulevard, causing more than $500 damage.
Arrests
• Police found a bag containing more than an one ounce of marijuana on a man seen running around a house at the intersection of Cherry and Douglas streets Monday night. The suspect, Irvin Moss, 50, of Borton Street was charged with marijuana sale and possession with intent to distribute.
• Tammy Finley, 48, of West Point was charged with burglary and theft by taking.
• Antonio Ransom, 26, of Young’s Mill Road was charged with criminal damage FVA and possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.
• Fortunato Sanchez-Hernandez, 28, of Hamilton Road was charged with possession of cocaine.
