Officers seized three video gambling machines Friday and about $5,000 at Hershey’s, six machines and $2,325 at Walt’s Accessories, and eight machines and $770 at Chalk It Up.
Arrested on commercial gambling charges were Daryle Lamonte Gable, 56, of Young’s Mill Road, John David Neighbors, 40, of Crestwood Drive, Charlene Ogletree, 56, of Lanett, Ala., Larry Scott, 53, of West Point, and Hyun Chun Yim, 61, of Fayetteville.
Fire destroys van
A fire reported at 4:29 p.m. Monday destroyed a 2007 Chevrolet 2500 van owned by Cofield Heating and Air on Young’s Mill Road.
Van Cofield said he had parked the van in front of a residence at 8957 U.S. 29 north of Hogansville and about five minutes later he noticed the engine compartment on fire. The loss was estimated at $14,000, including about $2,000 worth of tools and equipment.
The cause of the fire was not determined.
Inmate finds gun
An inmate on a work detail found a small-caliber revolver about 2:20 p.m. Monday in a ditch in front of East Vernon Baptist Church at 2918 Roanoke Road. The gun was placed into the evidence locker at the sheriff’s department.
Shots fired
at apartments
Tall Pines Apartments residents were angry after shots were fired near the buildings.
Police said they received numerous calls of weapons being fired near the apartments Sunday.
One resident said he saw a large group of people standing in a breezeway near his apartment. He said when he told them to move away so they wouldn’t wake up his children, a man in the group drew a silver handgun and pointed it at him and others inside.
The resident said a female was there to fight another, and he called police. One of the men in the group then began firing a gun before the group fled.
No arrests have been made.
Sisters argue over offspring
Two sisters got into a fight over the other not producing more children while in the 100 block of Buck Murphy Road.
Police said the women were arguing over one not being fit to have any more children and the other taking care of the two she already had.
One of the sisters became angry during the argument and she called police to mediate.
Woman yells at ex-boyfriend in hospital room
An angry ex-girlfriend went to West Georgia Medical Center and yelled at her boyfriend.
Police said the ex-girlfriend had entered the hospital room where her ex-boyfriend, his current girlfriend and their child were and began yelling at the man’s current girlfriend, who had just given birth.
The angered ex didn’t start a fight, and she was escorted out of the room by her ex-boyfriend.
Arrests
— Spencer Rashad Hood, 19, of Lanett, Ala., was charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.
— Rachel Nadine Spradlin, 48, of Daughtery Street was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Theft
A thief stole the $300 tailgate of a truck in the Lee’s Crossing Apartments parking lot at 119 Old Airport Road.
