Mrs. Smith was married to Albert Smith, Sr. for thirty-three years, to this union six children were born. Mrs. Smith united with the New Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her health started failing. She was also a long time member of the ‘Old Ship of Zion’. She retired from the Highland Country Club after years of employment.
Mrs. Smith loved to sing and could really pray; her hobbies were singing and sewing, she also loved to cook. Everyone who knew Minnie, knew that she had a good heart; and that she treated people like she wanted to be treated.
She loved her children and grands and everybody else she came in contact with. Her favorite saying to her kids, “I Love You, and take care of yourself”. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Alice Smith. (May 16, 2006)
She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Hattie Ingram, Jamestown, NC; Beatrice (Ken) Nimney, Mitchellville, MD; Ola Ann Smith, Rex, GA; two sons, Roger (Mittie) Smith, Smyrna, GA; Albert Smith, LaGrange; seven grandchildren, Prentiss Smith Ingram, Julius Moore, Brandy Moore, Roderick Smith, Stephanie Carter, and April Ingram; six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson, and a host of other relatives, and friends.
The Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 1:00 PM at New Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Rufus Smith officiationg. The family will be at the home of her son, Albert Smith, Jr. at 3026 Upper Big Springs Road.
