Downtown is about to become a Friday night destination spot.

Downtown LaGrange Development Authority has announced its schedule for the return of “Flicks on Bricks” as well as a new downtown feature, First Fridays music events.

“We wanted to provide new opportunities for people to spend time downtown,” said JoAnn Gentry, program coordinator for the LaGrange DDA. “We’ve had great participation from downtown merchants who will be staying open late on Friday nights.”

Even the LaGrange Art Museum will be open until 8 p.m. during the Friday events, Gentry said.

A different music event will be held the first Friday of every month - beginning next week and continuing into the fall - at 6 p.m. In May and August, the “Flicks on Bricks”, a free family-friendly movie on Lafayette Square, will be held at dark every Friday night.

“We’re hoping people will come downtown, enjoy dinner, shopping, music and a movie,” Gentry said. “It should be a lot of fun.”

The First Fridays and Flicks on Bricks schedule include:

— April 2, Big Muddy performs from 6 to 9 p.m.

— May 7, Griff Parrish performs at 6 p.m., and the movie, “Twilight” begins at dark.

— May 14, “New Moon” begins at dark.

— May 21, “The Princess and The Frog” begins at dark.

— May 28, “Monsters vs. Aliens” begins at dark.

— June 4, Bikers On Main sponsor the “Kick Start Concert” at 6 p.m.
