Police said the child and his family were visiting other family members. The son was playing with other children on the street when the dog got loose and bit him on the right leg.
The boy received six stitches in his leg following the incident. The dog couldn’t be located.
Police: Woman cuts man
A Woodland Drive woman allegedly cut a man she knows with a knife early Sunday.
Police said Althea Patterson, 40, allegedly cut the man multiple times between midnight and 5 a.m. She was charged with aggravated assault and false imprisonment.
Thief snatches money at store
A customer at the Circle K at 1819 Roanoke Road walked up to the clerk about 2:20 a.m. Saturday to pay for a soft drink and took about $57 from the register while it was open. The thief then fled.

Thief thirsty for orange juice
Someone kicked in the back door of a residence in the 500 block of Harwell Avenue, drank half a gallon of orange juice and left the rest in the driveway.
Police said the thief ransacked the house, opening drawers and dressers.
Damage to the door frame was $100, and the orange juice was worth $3.
Arrests
— Troup County sheriff’s deputies arrested Thomas Brent Folds, 22, of Lethea Drive on charges of possession of methamphetamine and less than an ounce of marijuana.
— Gary Dennis, 19, of Colquitt Street was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and sale of marijuana.
Fake $10 bill
A man was given a fake $10 bill as change after making a purchase in Piggly Wiggly at 517 S. Greenwood St.
Damage
Someone threw a rock at a vehicle on Spring Street and cracked the windshield, causing about $500 damage.
Thefts, burglaries
— Electronics, including an Apple laptop and a Coby sound system, and a pair of shoes were stolen from an apartment in the 300 block of Wilkes Street. The items were valued at $1,860.
— A car stereo system valued at $600 was stolen from a vehicle at LaGrange College at 601 Broad St.
— Items valued at $250 were stolen from a residence in the 1300 block of Forrest Avenue.
— A thief stole various softball items, including bats and gloves, from a vehicle in the Shuford Fields Softball Complex parking lot at 950 Calumet Drive. The items were valued at $20.
— A Carhartt jacket and CDs with a total value of $120 were stolen from a vehicle in the 700 block of Vernon Street.
— A man reported the theft of a 1984 Chevrolet Caprice from his residence in the 1100 block of Hammett Road. A .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol was under the passenger seat.
— A trailer loaded with a Cub Cadet lawnmower and go-cart was stolen from a residence in the 800 block of South Fling Road. The loss was estimated at $1,150.
— A woman said she was away from her residence in the 2200 block of Hamilton Road for about 15 or 20 minutes and returned to find the back door had been pushed open and a rented video game system stolen.
— A trailer with flat tires and no rear gate was stolen from a residence in the first block of Pine Hill Road. It was valued at $65.
n Several items were stolen from a vehicle at Long Cane Access off West Point Road.
Accident
An 18-year-old Columbus man was injured about 4 p.m. Sunday after he lost control of his Toyota Tundra and it overturned once or twice on Whitesville Road near Murphy Road.
Troup County firefighters used the “Jaws of Life” power tool to free the driver from the wreckage, and he was flown by helicopter to Columbus Medical Center. His name was not available.
Two others in the vehicle were not injured.
