She ran to her car and locked herself inside, but he allegedly struck the top of her vehicle and windshield several times with the jack, almost completely breaking out the windshield.
Warrants were issued charging the 36-year-old man with criminal damage to property and simple assault.
Cell phone sparks fight
A man was arrested after police said he and the mother of his child got into a fight over a cell phone in the 800 block of Borton Street.
Police said the two had argued over something the man found on her phone while she was asleep. The man threw the phone to the ground, breaking it, and held the woman down on the bed.
The woman hit him on the face and bit him on the chest, prompting the man to bite her on the forehead. The woman got away and ran out of the residence.
Officers charged the man with battery and criminal trespass.
Man found nude in truck
A man was found nude in another man’s truck in the driveway of a vacant residence in the 100 block of Rome Avenue.
Police received a call about a suspicious vehicle about 10:30 p.m. Thursday. An officer approached the truck and found two men inside - a passenger intoxicated and completely nude, and the driver clothed.
The driver said he was giving the passenger a ride home because he was intoxicated.
After being told to put on pants, the passenger got up and urinated in the roadway in front of the officer’s vehicle.
A small amount of marijuana was found in a cigarette box in his pocket.
The passenger was charged with disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana and public drunkenness.
Thefts, burglaries
— About $300 was found missing from a woman’s purse in the 700 block of Jefferson Street.
— A Magnavox DVD recorder valued at $147 was stolen from inside a residence in the 400 block of Harwell Avenue. The handle to the front door was broken along with a window.
— A thief stole $130 from a cash register at Wendy’s at 1511 Lafayette Parkway.
Fake excuses
An administrator at Long Cane Middle School said the school had received several doctor excuses that appeared to be fraudulent. Troup County sheriff’s deputies were investigating.
Guilty pleas
Sentenced after pleading guilty Thursday in Troup Superior Court were:
— Jonathan J. Parker; three years in prison and two years’ probation for sale of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
— Bobby Ray Jones Jr., 36, of Eufaula, Ala.; 10 years’ probation and restitution of $19,804.98 for theft by deception. He obtained a vehicle from Parkway Mitsubishi by writing a down payment check that he knew would not be honored and made no further payments.
— Darren Tyrone Scott, 38, of Montgomery, Ala.; two years in prison, four years’ probation and a fine of $1,850 for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and driving without a license.
— Lacarian Zedale Howell, 19, of LaGrange; five years in prison and five years’ probation for two counts of selling cocaine and possession of ecstasy.
— Marquerius Sanquentez Cotton, 24, of Hogansville; two years at the Troup County Correctional Institute and three years’ probation for fleeing from officers, driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
— Wendell Deanthony Sanders, 23, of Hogansville; two years in prison, three years’ probation and restitution of $657.68 for possession of cocaine, DUI and two counts each of interference with government property and obstruction of officers.
