Are we united? Open your eyes, look! Listen with your mind and heart. Answer honestly.
Are we a nation under God? Under His laws and His Spirit? He is always there for us, but His giving us freedom of choice sometimes brings problems. He must be frustrated, certainly disappointed now to see our elected governmental of-ficials squabbling like children at play. The game is power.
At this writing, the majority party in Congress has passed one of the most far-reaching pieces of legislation in the history of our nation. They used almost every tactic they could get by with to pass a bill that has had no in-depth scrutiny by the people it will affect most - the citizens of the United States, us. It was not available for even Congress to review its provision adequately before its enactment. Bribery, subterfuge, lying and threatening were all a part of the strategy used in its passage.
Why was that necessary? The way it was enacted makes its passage suspect.
Every honest person in our nation knows we need serious attention to our health-care situation. Even the insurance companies and the medical community can agree with that statement.
Why was President Obama in such a hurry to get this legislation enacted? Why couldn’t he wait for bipartisan examination and deliberation? He has made the nation question his leadership at a time that he needs greater credibility.
What comes now? Almost every day, a new provision comes to light needing ex-planation and/or possible change. Some needed changes were not addressed in this bill.
Must we now wait for the next election in the hope that new legislators will be elected who will work together in a bipartisan way to strengthen our health care and correct or remove some bad provisions of this law?
As citizens of this great nation, we deserve to be able to trust the people we elect to office to govern us in such a way that ensures the unity of the United States and reflects the Christian principles and courage demonstrated by our founding fathers.
It is now time for us to examine carefully the character and records of candidates for office before we go to the polls later this year and in 2010.
Now it’s up to us.

Why was he in such a hurry? Because it has been shot down despite being recommended by presidents of both parties since HST.
Since you take a religious stand, maybe you should ask yourself "What would Jesus do?"and if you think the answer is to deny healthcare to those who need it and can't afford it, you don't know the man I'm familiar with.
