Man hides in trash can after chase

A man allegedly crashed a stolen truck into a car and hid in a trash can trying to escape police.

Police said Brandon Cardarious Lindsey, 22, of Cannonville Road was seen about 1 a.m. Tuesday driving the vehicle that had been reported as taken without permission. As officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Simmons Street, the driver accelerated and turned onto Whitesville Street near Cedar Street.

At the top of a hill, the driver fled the vehicle, which crashed into a Honda Accord. He ran into the area of Benjamin Harvey Hill Homes, where he was found hiding in a trash can.

Police charged Lindsey with driving without a license, reckless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign, striking an unattended vehicle, theft by receiving a stolen vehicle, obstruction, two counts fleeing and attempting to elude and obstruction.

He also was charged with battery, second-degree criminal damage to property and interference with an emergency call from a previous incident.

Man seeking food in car arrested

A man was arrested after looking for something to eat in another man’s car.

Police said the owner found his car door open and a man leaning inside the vehicle in the 200 block of Boulevard. The owner asked him what he needed, and the man told him he was looking for food and hoped he would have something good in a bag the owner had left in the car.

When the owner said he was going to call police, the man fled. Officers found the man in the 200 block of Jefferson Street, and he was identified by the car owner.

Knife-wielding man arrested

An angry man holding a knife beat on a door and yelled at another man and his girlfriend at the Stay Lodge on Whitesville Street.

Police said the angry man’s girlfriend had been arrested earlier, and he was upset at the couple in the room next to his for some reason. While speaking with the couple, officers said the man slammed his door four or five times while yelling that the couple was cooking meth inside their room.

Officers waited for the man to come out of his room and charged him with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Damage

Someone kicked in the front door of a house in the 900 block of Borton Street, then fled when the alarm was activated.

Fraud

Someone fraudulently created an account in a LaGrange woman’s name with the Bank of Delaware and charged $852.

Thefts, burglaries

— A resident of the 7300 block of Hogansville Road said he arrived home about 10 a.m. Tuesday and saw two males who quickly left when they saw him. An antique wall phone was missing from the residence, which had been ransacked.

— Eight concrete stamp pads and a bull float, a concrete finishing tool that smooths fresh concrete surfaces, were stolen in a burglary at Diamond and G Construction Co. at 212 S. Smith Road. The items were valued at $1,600.

— A thief cut the lock off the back of a tractor-trailer at LaGrange Travel Center at 2560 Whitesville Road and stole two TVs valued at more than $1,000.

— More than $6,000 worth of electronics, including a 55-inch Toshiba flat-screen TV and a 37-inch Toshiba flat-screen TV, and $2,300 worth of clothing were stolen from the 100 block of Fendig Street.

— About $200 was stolen from a nightstand of a bedroom in the 300 block of Cherry Street.

— A 19-inch flat screen TV valued at $150 was stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Borton Street.
