Dear Editor:

Thanks, Boy Scouts, for a job well done on our 100-year anniversary exhibit at the Heritage Museum on Main in LaGrange. As we move into our second century of scouting, whether a Cub Scout, Boy Scout or Explorer, it’s the leadership that makes the difference. Our Yellow Jacket District is so fortunate to have men and women to attend training sessions like Wood Badge, where the real scouting experience is taught in the patrol method. Thanks you, scouters, who have given your time, money and resources to help these young people to become better citizens and to better their lives.

We had so many diverse items to display for our 100-year exhibit and saw those happy kids and smiling faces after enduring economic depression, world wars, financial crises, different presidents, new states and man landing on the moon.

Thanks of the museum, the curator and staff, and to all the responsible men and women who came forward and pitched in and loaded items for the display to make the exhibit happen.

I say thank you for our uniforms from all the various years with the colorful neckerchiefs and slides, different hats and caps, shapes and sizes of canteens, mess kits and cooking utensils, knives, cups, Rockwell paintings, flags, merit badges, books and, of course, the photos of the boys, men and women who were involved, and the mothers and fathers who devoted their time.

After serving more than 65 of the 100 years in scouting, it was such an honor to be the chairman of the “100 Years of Boy Scout Exhibit” at the museum.
