Mr. William Allen (Bill) Woodham, 98, of LaGrange passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at LaGrange Nursing and Rehab.

Mr. Woodham was born February 4, 1912, in Troup County, son of the late Hessie and Nettie Hasty Woodham. He had lived here all of his life and was a member of Baptist Tabernacle. He retired as an electrician from the Hillside Plant of Deering-Milliken after 40 years of service. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II having served on the USS Runner submarine from October 1943 through December 1945, and was a member of the Georgia Sea Lions Submarine Club.

He became a Master Mason March 2, 1946, and a member of the Elm City Lodge #544 Free and Accepted Masons and was the Worshipful Master in 1956 and 1972. He was Director of Works for approximately 40 years and a long-serving Chaplain. He became a Shriner in 1970 at the Yaarab Temple of Atlanta. He was a Scottish Rite Mason in the Valley of Columbus and was a member of the LaGrange Shrine Club.

On November 17, 1977 he was awarded the KCCH degree and was an instructor of Catechism for 40 years. He became a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason on November 15, 2003. He received his 50 Year Masonic Apron in 1996 and his 60 Year Apron from the York Rite Masons. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Harlin and Jean Woodham of Fayetteville; grandson, Kenneth Woodham of Chamblee; granddaughters Vicki Woodham and Susan Woodham of Acworth; step sons, James “Butch” Bunn and Tony Bunn of LaGrange.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Ora Woodham and Lois Woodham, and son, Edwin Jerome Woodham; brothers, Robert Reid Woodham, H.J. Woodham Jr.; sisters, Jessie Mae Skipper, Irma Vessel, Virginia Lucille Gilmartin, Ida Ruth Pressley, and Lillian Irene Thorson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 Thursday at Baptist Tabernacle with Rev. Jimmy McMillan officiating. Interment will be at Hillview East Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00.
