A flag ceremony Monday at Rosemont Elementary School will honor Troup County native Marjorie Champion Salamone, a civilian employee of the Defense Department who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Pentagon.

Woodmen of the World will present the school with a new flag and flagpole dedicated in memory of Salamone, who attended Rosemont Elementary School and later graduated from Troup High School.

Speakers at the 10 a.m. ceremony will include Salamone’s mother, Lillian Champion, state Board of Education member Mary Sue Polleys and Linda Moore Arrington.

Community members may join Rosemont students and staff at the event. The school is at 4679 Hamilton Road.
