A 17-year-old is accused of threatening to cut the neck of a 15-year-old male Lanett Avenue resident over a dirt bike.

Police detective Jennie Phillips said Malcolm Vincent Duey of Sunset Street was looking for a ride when he came upon a group of juveniles playing at the end of Lanett Avenue about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. The 15-year-old told him he would give him a ride, and the two got on.

Officers said Duey then pulled out a knife, held it to the youth’s neck and told him to get off the bike. The youth refused, and police said Duey held the knife closer to the youth’s neck and threatened to kill him if he didn’t get off.

The 15-year-old got off the bike and ran inside, retrieving a stick. As Duey attempted to ride away, the youth hit him on the back, causing Duey to fall off. A fight ensued, and the 15-year-old ran into his residence. Duey fled toward Auburn Avenue, where allegedly he pushed down an 8-year-old boy, injuring him.

Police found Duey at a residence in the 100 block of Auburn Avenue as he went out the back door.

He was charged with aggravated assault, armed robbery and battery.

"Man Threatens to Cut Youth"

The age difference between these two could be as short as 366 days, can anyone tell me which day you stop being a "youth" and become a "man"?
