Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in LaGrange.
Performing with the choir will be violinist Callie Hammond and tuba player Eric Bubacz, a professor of tuba at Mercer University and Georgia State University. Performing Sunday will be the Lafayette Christian School boys quartet.
To open the concert, the Sons of Lafayette will sing “Red River Valley,” featuring baritone soloist Joe Harville, and “Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears” featuring tenor soloist LeGree McCamey.
The Harmonizers will sing four songs, including the English folk song “I Wished To Be Single Again,” featuring tenor soloist Rob Duram.
“The audience is sure to be surprised by ‘Johnny Schmo-ker,’ a Pennsylvania Dutch folk song, which concludes the Harmonizers’ part of the program,” said Loren Pinkerman, founder and conductor of the choir.
A total of 11 a cappella selections are planned, including Tschesnokoff’s “Salvation Is Created;” “This Little Light of Mine/Do Lord” medley; “If I Got My Ticket,” featuring Tim Frazier, tenor soloist; “There Is a Balm in Gilead;” “Wade in the Water,” featuring Bubacz; and “A Parting Blessing.”
“There is no better venue for a cappella music in LaGrange than First Presbyterian,” Pinkerman said.
The “Sanctus” from Gounod’s St. Cecilia Mass will feature McCamey, Hammond and organist Gerald Becham.
Tickets are available from Hill Street House and Plum Southern. Seating is limited so the early purchase of tickets was encouraged.
The choir closes its season with a concert May 23 at Vineville United Methodist Church in Macon. An additional performance is at Dunaway Gardens near Newnan.
