LaGrange police searched a residence in the 100 block of Bell Street on Monday night for a man with an active warrant.
After failed demands for Tony Williams, 18, of Bell Street to reveal himself, one of his house guests pointed to an air conditioning duct, police said. Williams was found curled up in a ventilation shaft.
Police then found a clear plastic bag containing what appeared to be pieces of cocaine. But closer observation showed the substance to be french fries altered to imitate cocaine. He told police he was just trying to make money.
Williams was charged with imitation of a controlled substance.
