The buses pull in, the players depart, and they head to the dressing room to prepare for that night’s game.
This week will be different.
The players will ride the buses to the stadium like they always do, but the greeting they’ll receive before their Class AAA semifinal game against Flowery Branch will be unlike anything they’ve seen before.
A “Granger Walk” will be held at the stadium, with fans and well-wishers greeting the players as they exit the bus.
The players will get off the buses at the entrance to the parking lot behind the home stands, and they’ll walk to the gate between rows of fans.
The buses will arrive around 6 p.m., and fans are asked to gather for the “Granger Walk” about 15 minutes before then.
“We’re encouraging people to be lined up all the way down to where we go in the gate,” LaGrange head coach Steve Pardue said. “(Athletics director) Jay Russell came up with the idea, and I think it’s a good idea.”
Senior linebacker Qua Huzzie said it’ll be a nice way to welcome the players to the stadium for their final home game of the year.
“I’ve been looking forward to that ever since they announced it,” Huzzie said. “I think it’ll be real good.”
Fans will be able toenter the stadium at 6 p.m.
