Man stabbed, struck with own car

A woman stabbed her boyfriend with a steak knife, then struck him with his car about 2:15 p.m. Monday in the 1600 block of Whitesville Street, police said.

Police gave this account:

Tandra Jones, 30, of West Point got into an argument with Dexter Ridgeway, 36, of West Point while they were riding near the Stay Lodge at 1610 Whitesville St. Jones pulled out a steak knife and stabbed Ridgeway in the arm.

Ridgeway pulled into the Stay Lodge parking lot and began walking away. Jones jumped in the driver’s seat and attempted to hit Ridgeway. He tried to get into another vehicle for safety when he was struck by Jones. He fell under the second vehicle, and Jones fled.

Officers followed Jones as she drove to her residence in West Point. She was taken to Troup County jail and was charged with aggravated assault.

Ridgeway was treated at West Georgia Medical Center and released.

Arrest

Robert Patrick Laughlin, 17, of East Depot Street was charged with statutory rape.

Damage

Someone put a small hole in the front window of Green Finance at 156 Commerce Ave., causing more than $500 damage.

Theft

A thief stole a Motorola W755 valued at $250 from the counter of the Moneyback Food Store at 517 Hamilton Road.
