The Troup Lady Tigers improved to 4-2 with a 61-42 victory over homestanding Upson-Lee on Tuesday.

With their second win over Upson-Lee in as many attempts, the Lady Tigers have surpassed their win total from a year ago.

In the boys’ game, Troup lost 69-55.

For the Lady Tigers, freshman Shamiya Brooks scored 19 points and had 10 rebounds, while 6-foot-7 senior post player Pascale West had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Brooks, head coach Caroline Sellers said, has taken advantage of the attention teams are paying to West, who has signed with Auburn.

"They're doubling Pascale, and (Brooks) is getting the open looks," Sellers said. "She's been doing really good."

The Lady Tigers were ahead 31-16 at the half, and they didn't let Upson-Lee get back into the game in the second half.

In the boys' game, the Tigers fell to 1-3 with the 14-point loss to Upson-Lee.

After falling behind 51-37 through three quarters, the Tigers got as close as seven points in the fourth period, but they couldn’t complete the comeaback.

The Tigers have dropped three straight since a season-opening since.

Troup's teams will return to action on Thursday in the opening round of the Callaway Invitational against Pacelli.

The girls play at 6 p.m., with the boys' game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
