Police said a man and an employee were arguing in the parking lot when another man pulled up and attempted to stop them. The men then began yelling and cursing at the mediator, causing several patrons to stand and watch.
Officers tried to calm down the man who had been arguing, but he continue to yell. He was then arrested and put in a police car, where he began banging his head against the window. He calmed down before becoming belligerent again, flailing around in the backseat and taking off his seat belt.
He refused to be photographed at Troup County jail and was charged with disorderly conduct.
Woman slapped, door kicked in
A woman was slapped in the face and chest by a man she knows at her residence on Oak Lane.
Police gave this account:
The assailant went to the woman’s house to talk with her. An argument ensued, and the man punched two holes in the bedroom wall, knocked over furniture and other items, then hit the woman in the face and chest.
As woman ran out of the house, the man threw a chair at the woman, who called police from a friend’s house.
Later, the woman was sitting in her kitchen when the man kicked her back door in. A man in the house grabbed a kitchen knife to protect woman and her children, and the assailant fled.
Damage to the residence was $200 for the holes in the wall and $250 for the door.
The assailant wasn’t found.
Damage
Two LaGrange College vehicles were damaged when someone threw rocks at the windshield of one and the rear window of another, causing less than $500 damage.
Thefts, burglaries
- About $2,000 was stolen from the pocket of a jacket inside a closet in the first block of Patillo Road.
- A LaGrange man reported the theft of two tires off the passenger side of his semi-trailer, which he had parked in the 2500 block of Whitesville Road. The tires were valued at $1,000.
- Two bottles of liquor were stolen in a burglary in the 100 block of Bartley Road.
Purse found
A white purse was found Tuesday morning on Interstate 85 and the owner was contacted in Mississippi en route to Texas, Troup County sheriff’s deputies said. The purse was mailed to the woman.
