I gathered the mail up and put it all in the mail slot at our LaGrange Post Office. I did not see the signed blank check nor the certified letter that the check was for. The next day my wife asked for the receipt for the certified letter. It was downhill from there for me.
We called Postmaster Pete Bryan. This extremely nice young man quickly put us both at ease. Two fine postal associates had discovered the check and the certified letter among all the mail the day before. They filled out the necessary paperwork for the letter and mailed it, and they filled in the blank check for the amount, and they put the receipt for the certified letter in my wife’s post office box. Can you believe it? Two strangers helping another stranger. Doesn’t happen every day.
The two super postal associates were Deborah Thomas and Tony Wright. Deborah and Tony both went way out of their way to help someone whom neither personally knew.
Thank you, Deborah and Tony. You both are responsible for “saving my life.” LaGrange needs more Deborahs, Tonys and Petes.
