Mr. George Torrance Stephens, 25, of LaGrange passed away Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida.

Mr. Stephens, a native of LaGrange, was born October 18, 1984 and was the son of Phyllis Stephens and the late George Stephens. Torrance was a graduate of Callaway High School where he played football (#20). At an early age he joined the Leete Hill United Methodist Church where he sang on the youth choir. His work career also began early in his life. His first job was at Burger King. He was employed at Florence Hand Home while in high school. Later he worked part-time at Elm City Plant while working fulltime at the WalMart Distribution Center. He also attended West Georgia Technical College where he obtained his CDL license.

Torrance was a very quiet and lovable person. To know him was to love him. He would go out of his way to do anything for anyone. He touched the hearts of man and treated everyone with love and kindness. He was a well-respected young man and will be missed by many.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Phyllis Stephens; three sisters, Francesca (Mike) York, Ebony (Clement) Smith, Trina Reed; grandmother, Countis Lakes; nieces, Tamiya Reed, Hailey Smith, Kayla Smith, Makaya York; aunts, Denise Reed, Shirley (Charles) Boaz, Shantras Lakes, Karen Lakes, Isabell Cameron, Dorothy Ferrell, Barbara Render; very special and devoted aunt, Marian (Earl) Graham; Pat Stephens, Sandra Stephens; uncles, Arthur (Linda) Reed, Roy (Teresa) Stephens, Willie (Hattie) Stephens, Earnest (Mary Lou) Stephens; very special great aunt, Sandra (Harrison) Bentley; his girlfriend, Michelle Thurman whom he loved dearly; special friends, Cherrell Leslie, Ami Redwine; many cousins, relatives and friends; special grandmother, Lillie Ruth McCauley.

The funeral service will be Friday, July 16, 2010 at 11:00AM at the New Community Church on South Davis Road. Rev. John Tompkins and Rev. Lenton Snow will officiate with the eulogy given by his mother, Phyllis Stephens.

Burial will be in the Southview Cemetery.

The family will be at their home at 115 Sir Lancelot.
