Police said the victim was at a family member’s house along with James Lewis Adamson, 59, of East Crovat Street.
Adamson asked the victim to buy him some beer. As he was leaving, Adamson allegedly pushed him and the victim threw him to the ground. Adamson then held up a knife and swung it in the air, cutting the victim several times on the face and arms before fleeing.
Officers found Adamson bleeding near Hamilton and Cannon streets. He was charged with aggravated assault.
The victim was treated at West Georgia Medical Center.
Arrest
Johnny Lamar Gates, 38, of Atlanta was charged by LaGrange police with a warrant of aggravated assault through Atlanta police.
Damage
— Someone keyed the driver’s side of a vehicle in the 400 block of Brown Street, causing about $1,000 damage.
— A brick was thrown through the drive-through window of Walgreen’s at 115 Commerce Ave., causing about $800 damage.
— Someone destroyed a yard with a vehicle and pulled away a shutter of a residence in the 100 block of Coldwater Terrace. Damage was estimated at $330.
— A BB was shot through a windshield of a vehicle in the 1700 block of Adamson Street, causing about $300 damage.
— A car windshield was broken in the 100 block of Alton Drive, causing less than $500 damage.
— A vandal broke the front window and damaged the door jamb of a residence in the 500 block of Everette Street, causing less than $500 damage.
Thefts, burglaries
— A thief stole a Ford Ranger valued at $2,500 from Rings Forklift Service at 100 Gordon Commercial Drive
— An LG enV cell phone and a Smith and Wesson handgun were among items stolen from a residence at Whispering Pines Apartments at 1515 Hogansville Road. The items were valued at $825.
— Two bicycles valued at $550 were stolen from a residence in the 600 block of South Lee Street.
— A thief stole an expandable ladder valued at $500 from a residence in the first block of Barnard Avenue.
— A purse containing cash and class rings was stolen from a bench outside Walmart at 803 New Franklin Road. The items were valued at $453.
— A 27-inch Zenith TV and a GE refrigerator were stolen from a room in the Budget Inn at 100 Hill St. The items were valued at $400.
— A purse containing Jamaican money, a cell phone charger and identifications was stolen from Stay Lodge at 1601 Whitesville Road. The items were valued at $340.
— A 27-inch self-made computer monitor valued at $300 was stolen from WOAK radio station and Oakside Baptist Church at 1921 Hamilton Road.
— A truck was stolen from Green’s Paint and Body Shop at 330 Cooley Road where the owner had left it for custom body work.
— An air-conditioning unit was stolen from a vacant house at 6523 Hogansville Road.
— A motorcycle was stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Priddy Road.
