Woman says 150 calls a day are too many

A woman’s ex-boyfriend took checking up on her to the next level by calling her more than 150 times a day, police said.

The woman told officers she was being harassed by the man since they broke up. During their conversation, the man called the woman, and officers spoke with him about the harassment. The man said he was trying to find out whether another man was inside her residence.

Officers told him it wasn’t his business, and the woman hung up the phone. When he called back again, woman was told how to take out a warrant against the man for harassing communications.

Drug arrest

Susan Renee Teaver, 41, of New Hutchinson Mill Road was charged with possession of methamphetamine after police asked to search her vehicle for a parole violation. Her purse allegedly contained meth and a glass smoking tube.

A 14-year-old girl burst into a woman’s house to start a fight with her daughter over a text message argument.

Police said the daughter’s sister told the daughter to unlock the door, and as she did the 14-year-old snatched open the door and began cursing and yelling at the girl.

The girl’s mother came downstairs and told the intruder to leave. The girl left, arguing and cursing at the group.

Family members told officers they had received numerous threatening messages through another juvenile, and the daughter had been arguing with the 14-year-old for several days by text message.

The 14-year-old had juvenile complaint forms for disorderly conduct and criminal trespass signed, and she received a criminal trespass warning for the residence.

Damage

- Vandals destroyed a vacant rental property in the 1000 block of Stonewall Street, putting holes in the walls, tearing doors off hinges and shattering the windows. Damage was estimated at $5,000.

- The passenger side and hood of a vehicle were keyed while it was parked in the 1000 block of Baldwin Street. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

- A dump truck struck a man’s car on New Franklin Road near Bob Williams Drive, and the car owner contacted the other driver through his CB radio. The truck driver said the accident didn’t occur and fled. Damage was estimated at less than $500.

- Two bedroom windows were smashed at a vacant house in the 600 block of Glenn Robertson Street. Damage was estimated at less than $300.

Thefts, burglaries

- A brown Dooney and Burke wallet valued at $325 was stolen from a shopping cart outside Walmart at 803 New Franklin Road.

- A 32-inch Sony TV valued at $200 was stolen from a residence in the first block of Wallace Street.

- A thief stole a window air conditioner valued at $200 from a vacant residence in the 200 block of Niles Street.

- A cable box was stolen in a burglary in the 800 block of Ralls Road near Hogansville.

Car hits tree

A motorist suffered a cut after his car blew a tire and crashed into a tree on Callaway Church Road near Jane Fryer Road.

Police said the man lost control after the blowout and his car strike the tree in the median about 7:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Damage to his vehicle was estimated at more than $500.

The man refused medical attention for a cut on his arm, saying he would seek it later. He was cited for failure to maintain lane.

Too much talking

A Greyhound bus driver called 911 about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday because a passenger “would not stop talking and was disturbing the other passengers.”

Troup County sheriff’s deputy Phillip Johnson escorted the 49-year-old man off the bus, which had parked at Exit 6 on Interstate 85 in West Point. The deputy drove him to a bus station on Greenville Street in LaGrange to catch another bus.
