About 1 a.m., a woman was walking to her residence in Tall Pines Apartments at 150 Turner St. with her cousin when another woman ran up to her and struck her in the face with an unknown object, causing two cuts on her face and a cut on her shirt.
A knife was found in the grass nearby. The victim was taken to West Georgia Medical Center.
About 3:45 a.m., a man walking in the 1300 block of Park Avenue was jumped by a man wearing all black and a ski mask. The victim was cut on the back of the neck, the right side of his face and his right arm.
The victim had gotten into an argument with another man at a house on Juniper Street. The victim left with a friend, then the two split up. The friend was walking down Swanson Street when he heard the victim calling his name and found the victim on the ground.
Both incidents are under investigation.
Gun held to man’s mouth
A man had a gun held to his mouth after getting into an argument with another man.
Police said the victim was standing with a group of people when a man came around the corner and started arguing with him. The man disappeared and returned with a handgun, held it to the victim’s mouth and said, “I’m going to blow your head off,” while trying to shove the gun in the victim’s mouth.
The victim walked away and reported the incident later.
Youth takes dog to steal
A youth with a Chihuahua in one hand and a bicycle in the other was seen rummaging through a car in the 600 block of Young’s Mill Road.
Police said a relative of the car’s owner saw the youth, who looked about 16, going through the car. As he walked toward the vehicle, the dog began to bark and the youth fled. The man followed him, but lost him on a trail leading to Brookstone subdivision.
The teen left the dog and a Mongoose bicycle behind. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the car.
The dog was sent to the animal shelter, and the bicycle was put into police inventory.
Arrest
Derrick Deshona Alford, 31, of Juniper Street was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, selling cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Damage
n A ar was scratched on all side, curse words etched onto the passenger side and the passenger-side mirror broken in the 100 block of Wesley Way. Damage was estimated at $1,200.
n Someone threw a scoreboard into the parking lot in the McCluskey Tennis Center at 100 Hunnicutt Place, burned a signup sheet and broke a light fixture . Damage was estimated at $100.
n A man ripped a woman’s screen door from her back door in the 100 block of North Street. Damage was estimated at less than $250.
Thefts, burglaries
A Nokia Nuron cell phone valued at $200 was stolen from a bag a youth left on the front steps of Dawson Street Christian School at 200 N. Dawson St.
