The State Patrol continues to investigate Friday night’s traffic accident that killed Troup High School senior Larry Scott.

Scott, 17, was driving a 1988 GMC pickup south on New Hutchinson Mill Road when it ran off the west shoulder, struck an embankment and overturned, coming to rest against a utility pole.

His 14-year-old brother, Zack Nixon, was flown by helicopter to Columbus Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Neither teen was wearing a seat belt and both were ejected, troopers said. Nixon was thrown into a ditch and the vehicle rolled across the ditch without striking him.
