The season got off to a tough start for the Lafayette Christian School Cougars, who fell to homestanding Colonial Hills 52-10 Friday night.

The team put the first two points on the board thanks to a safety from Jeff Hutcheson, but that would prove to be a one of few bright spots for the team.

“We were just simply outplayed tonight,” head coach Nick Nehring said. “We played them pretty tough in the first half of the game, but we were just couldn’t keep up with them.”

The Cougars were outrun by a fierce ground attack from Colonial Hills and going into the half were down 31-2.

Nehring said despite the lop-sided score, the players kept fighting.

“The guys didn’t quit and kept battling throughout the game,” Nehring said.

In the fourth quarter, the Cougars scored their lone touchdown, with Tyler Cranford finding Hutcheson in the end zone.
