Man angered to find wife is wed to someone else

A man damaged a bedroom suite and punched holes in his apartment walls after learning that his wife is married to someone else.

Police said the wife went to the police station to report that her husband was damaging items in their apartment and contacted the landlord about the holes. She left the residence for the night.

Dirt bike hits boy

An 8-year-old boy was struck by another youth riding a dirt bike in the common area outside Tall Pines Apartments at 150 Turner St.

Police said the boy was playing and told his mother a red dirt bike struck him and knocked him to the ground, causing minor abrasions to his left, shoulder and forehead. He didn’t know who was riding on the vehicle.

He was treated at West Georgia Medical Center.

Sisterly spat

A woman fought with her sister after asking for $15 the victim owed her.

Police said the sister yelled at the victim about needing a ride. The sister owed the victim $15, and the sister agreed to pay it for the ride.

The victim later told officers that her sister went into her house, pulled out some of her hair extensions and struck her with a purse containing a half-full beer can because she didn’t give her a ride.

Wreck

A Ware’s Cross Road woman was injured after failing to see a tractor trailer and rolling out in front of it.

Police said Humi Lee Yu, 48, was in a Toyota Corolla on Davis Road at Hogansville Road preparing to turn right as Sambo Kea, 28, of Stockbridge was westbound on Hogansville Road in a International pulling a trailer.

Kea told officers his light was green and continued to drive straight. Yu rolled through the yield sign and was struck by Kea.

While at the hospital Yu said the truck must have been speeding because she didn’t see the vehicle and told officers she should have stopped instead of slowing down.

She was cited for failure to yield.

Thefts, burglaries

- An Xbox console and two controllers worth an estimated $150, along with a watch, food and 12-pack of beer were stolen in a burglary in the first block of Maple Lane.

- A white Ford Explorer valued at $5,000 was stolen from the 100 block of West Meadow Way.

- Three tires and their chrome rims were stolen from a vehicle in the Auction Way Co. parking lot at 1001 Hogansville Road. The tires were valued at $740.

Arrest

Troup County sheriff’s deputy Nathan Taylor stopped an Opelika, Ala., man Wednesday for erratic driving on Interstate 85. The 30-year-old man provided a fake Alabama ID card, two Guatemala ID cards and a passport that had not been stamped.

The man said he hadn’t obtained a driver’s license in the United States because was here illegally. He was charged with driving without a license and given a warning on the other offenses.

Sign damaged

Several rocks were thrown at the Pentecostal Church at 82 Chase Road, causing an estimated $300 damage to the church sign.

Boot drive

The Heard County Fire Department will have a fundraising “boot drive” today, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the square in downtown Franklin on behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
