Myrtle Irene Champion Hopkins, 99, of Pine Mountain, died Thursday, September 9, 2010 in

LaGrange.

Mrs. Hopkins was born August 31, 1911 in Harris County, daughter of the late Forrest Lee Champion Sr. and Sally Irene Babb Champion. She was a lifelong Harris County resident. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Henderson Hopkins; three sisters, Inez Champion Veal, Lillian Harris and Edna Lee Champion; and five brothers, Alvin Champion, Cecil, Hubert Champion, Wilbur Champion, and Forrest Lee Champion, Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Claire Champion Hopkins Hawley of Pine Mountain; and a brother, Lewis P. Champion of San Anselmo, CA.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ben Bennett officiating.

Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to either Safe Haven Animal Rescue, Inc. (P.O. Box 622, Hamilton, GA 31811) or Midway Baptist Church (2495 Hopewell Church Rd., Pine Mountain, GA 31822) in memory of Mrs. Myrtle Irene Champion Hopkins.
