A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in Carrollton to decide whether Peter Mallory’s trial on sexual exploitation of children will be continued to a later date.
Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney Pete Skandalakis said the hearing will be in Carrollton to accommodate the judge’s schedule. If no continuance is granted, the trial is set for Nov. 26 here in LaGrange.
Earlier this month, Mallory’s bail conditions were modified to allow him to attend a family function, which the district attorney’s office opposed.
Under the new conditions, Mallory may now have contact with children under 18 in his extended family if another adult is present. He may also travel outside the state – a condition granted so he could attend the family function.
Previously, Mallory was not allowed any contact with a person under 16 except for two relatives with the supervision of their parents. He still may not get on the Internet, contact any of the alleged victims in the case and possess a firearm. He also had to surrender his passport.
Mallory, the former owner of TV-33, was indicted earlier this year on 60 counts of sexual exploitation of children, three counts of invasion of privacy and one count of tampering with evidence. He was arrested on April 27, 2011 when police found child pornography on computers at the television station. He was arrested again the next month when police searched his home.
