Employees with Novelis Foil Products worked with Habitat for Humanity to refurbish the inside of a home at 207 Hamilton Road on Saturday.

The company formed a partnership with Habitat several years ago because of can recycling efforts, and Novelis has donated almost $30,000 to the non-profit from the venture, officials said. The money was used towards the Hamilton Road project home and contributed toward the building of a new house a few years ago.

The Novelis Foil Products office in LaGrange is helping Troup/Chambers/Randolph/Heard Habitat for Humanity refurbish what is being called “The Novelis House.” Novelis employees and their families spent about six hours Satuday painting the house. Regional managers from other parts of the country also took part in the project.

Novelis employees also donated enough for the Novelis House to add a new heating and air-conditioning system, and because the Habitat office in LaGrange won a recent can recycling challenge, employees donated an additional $5,000 to the local affiliate.

Novelis is the world’s largest producer of rolled aluminum with operations spanning 11 countries and more than 11,000 employees. The company designated October as Corporate National Month of Service.
