Dear Editor,
I am continuing to be amazed by the leadership of our Troup County School Board.
In reviewing the recent recommendations that face the school system with budget shortfalls, I can’t help but wonder why it is, the children of Troup County continue to take the blunt of the burden.
The recommendations made impact only the education of our children with items like art, music and such being cut. I am not 100 percent sure how other school systems handle such problems as budget shortfalls but I do know how private sectors/corporations handle items such as that.
I work for a large company and have experienced budget crunches. Not a single time in any of the processes has the employees or customers taken the brunt of the impact.
The impact of budget cuts has been felt from the top down. Why on earth are the only people being impacted by the budget cuts in Troup County School System the employees (teachers) and customers (students) and not by the top leadership, which is Troup County School System central office?
The budget cuts made prior to 2012-2013 school year only impacted principals down with the release of a principal, closing of a school and other teacher reductions. The new recommendations are sounding very much the same with principals taking the burden.
I ask, when will the leadership of Troup County School System take on some of this burden and continue to educate our children rather than cut back what is being taught? I am sure there is fat that could be cut from the central office’s budget. Funny how it never is though.
Sincerely,
Chad Daniel

Corruption is ALIVE and well in the TCSS. Your letter is right on target. The FAT is at the top and will remain there as long as we continue to vote in the same 'ol folks. Nice to see someone else realizes what is going on around here.
