Mr. Lester Gordon Simmons, 70, of LaGrange passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at West Georgia Medical Center.

Mr. Simmons was born June 21, 1942 in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, son of the late Lester C. and Eunace Phetteplace Simmons. He was the owner and operator of Yippee Machine & Fabricating Company Inc. Mr. Simmons was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers. He loved his wife, family, farming, fishing and animals.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sherrie Ann Thrasher Simmons; sons and daughter-in-law, Rick Simmons and Tim and Annette Simmons; daughter, Traci Simmons Johnson, all of LaGrange; ten grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Janet Simmons of Tennessee; sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Don Beard of Illinois; sister-in-law, Betty Simmons of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Chamberlain and a brother, Denny Simmons.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 Wednesday at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with Rev. Wayne Simmons officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
