The West Georgia Hospice Christmas Tour of Homes was met with beautiful weather and record crowds.

This year’s advance ticket sales for the event went well, but it was the warm, sunny Sunday afternoon that probably nudged ticket sales at the door to an all time high. With over 100 more people this year than last year attending the Tour of Homes, all of the day’s volunteers were kept busy.

Guests were first greeted at Hills and Dales and then had the option of immediately boarding one of the many Mike Patton vans to begin the actual tour or leisurely relax in the seasonal atmosphere of Hills and Dales Estate’s visitor center. Tables in the center were laden with food, drink and beautiful Christmas treasures that were available for purchase. Live entertainment was also provided by members of the LaGrange Youth Symphony, harpists Libby Rigby and Milly Criswell and the Faithful Hearts Choir from the First Baptist Church of LaGrange.

This year the tour featured five different homes in LaGrange. The LaGrange College President’s home, along with the homes of Rod and Kim Skiff, Brandon and Maria Solomon, Wes and Suzanne Turton and Tracy and Jodi Ward were all beautifully decorated and open to guests.

“Each year this is one of the fundraising events that we count on for Hospice. It is through the generosity of the home owners and the tremendous efforts of our many volunteers that this event is so successful,” Tammy Forbus, West Georgia Hospice volunteer specialist said. “It is hard to describe how big the hearts of our volunteers are. They give generously of their time and talents to Hospice, it could not be done without them.”

Judy Lee and her 91-year-old mother-in-law, Dorothy Vines, were first time guests of the event. Both of the women were helping themselves to some of the many dishes of food that were offered at the center.

“This is our first time. We saw this advertised and my mother-in-law said that she wanted to go. Everything is so gorgeous here, we are excited to be able to be part of this,” Lee said.
