They’re still perfect.

The LaGrange Lady Grangers ran their record to 9-0 with a victory over Smiths Station on Thursday in an opening-round game in the Lady Tiger Holiday Tournament at Auburn High.

LaGrange wasn’t originally scheduled to play in a holiday tournament, but it was able to gain a late entry into the Auburn tourney.

With Thursday’s win, LaGrange advances to play an also unbeaten Auburn High team at 7 p.m. today, with the winner of that game advancing to the tournament finals on Saturday.

In the other semifinal today, Valley will play Dadeville at 8:30 p.m.

Against Smiths Station, Brittany Tatum paced LaGrange with 12 points, and Breanna Grant and KaBrenna Smith chipped in with nine points apiece.

Smith also had four blocks.

LaGrange hadn’t played since Dec. 18 when it beat Callaway 57-37 to move to 8-0.

If the Lady Grangers hadn’t been able to find a tournament to play in, they would have gone more than two weeks without a game by the time they returned to the court.

After this weekend, LaGrange will be off until Jan. 4 when it opens Region 5-AAAA play against Shaw.
