The Georgia/Alabama Region Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) President Charles Norris presented a $1,500 donation to the LaGrange Personal Aid Association.

The check was presented to the organization’s Executive Director, Paul Stedman, at the club’s annual Christmas luncheon that was held on Dec. 8th at the Highland Country Club.

The club was able to make the donation to the association due to the success of their antique car show that they held at the LaGrange Mall this past fall.

After everyone had an opportunity to fill their plates and enjoy their selections from the buffet, Norris welcomed the club members and their guests.

“I especially want to thank Joe McConnell, who is our vice president but who couldn’t be here today. Joe was the one who was in charge of the LaGrange Mall car show this past October,” Norris said. “The show was a great success and from that, we are able to present Paul Stedman, the executive director of LaGrange Personal Aid Association with this check.”

Stedman accepted the check and thanked the members for choosing to support the LaGrange Personal Aid Association.

“Right now we are working on the Empty Stocking Fund. Last year we were able to help 500 children. Each of the kids get three books and three toys,” Stedman said. “This year we are on track for over 500.”

The AACA holds monthly meetings, rotating their meeting venues to help accommodate its members.

“Our members all have antique cars, we are complete from the model T through the muscle cars to the early ’80s,” Norris said.

“We like being in the club. Just to be able to see the older cars and meet people who are doing restoration, what we are doing, it’s a lot of fun,” club member Steve Howard said.

During their Christmas luncheon, club members voted in their officers for 2013 and decided on the location for their next meeting.

The next meeting of the AACA will be on Jan. 12th, at 9 a.m. at Biscuits and Briskets in LaGrange. Anyone who is interested in joining this organization is invited to attend the January meeting.
