Mr. Roger Pittman, 88, of LaGrange, passed away Monday, January, 14, 2013, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Pittman was native of Troup County and was born December 15, 1924, son of the late Wallace B. Sr. and Hettie Ruth Powers Pittman. He retired from Civil Service, United Postal System. Mr. Pittman was a member of the River of Life Prison and Jail Ministries and devoted to the prison and jail ministries for more than 20 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Audie Lamerle Pittman of LaGrange; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Owen and Irene Pittman of Franklin; brother, Rev. Wallace Bonner Pittman of LaGrange; sisters, Carol J. Meacham of Huntsville, AL, Ilene J. McClure of Montgomery, AL, J. Irene Ketchum of LaGrange, brother, Jerry s. Pittman of Stockbridge; sisters, Cleo R. Gafford of Columbus, and Linda L. Shelnutt of Franklin. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Wayne Pittman and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 Wednesday at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with Minister Billy Colquitt and Rev. Harry Leverett officiating. Interment will be at Shadowlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 before the service.
