A 13 year old was arrested on several charges after LaGrange police said he fled from officers in a stolen car.

A LaGrange police report gave the following account: officers responded to the 200 block of South Dawson Street in reference to a vehicle that had just been stolen.

Officers spotted a car matching the stolen vehicle’s description at Colquitt Street and Hamilton Road. When they attempted to stop the car, its driver began driving recklessly as if trying to flee.

The car didn’t stop for the marked police car, and a short distance later, the vehicle crashed in the 600 block of East Depot Street. The driver fled on foot until officers caught him a short distance away.

The driver, whose identity was withheld because he is a juvenile, was uninjured in the crash. He was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, driving while unlicensed, reckless driving, fleeing and attempting to elude, and obstruction. The youth was being detained at the Columbus Regional Youth Detention Center.
