A suspicious fire in the 600 block of Chattahoochee Street in believed to be arson.

On Feb. 7, at about 3:11 p.m., Officer Nicholas Hayes responded to the residence in reference to a structure fire. Upon arrival, Hayes said that LaGrange firefighters informed him that the area that was burned had nothing electrical running through it and it appeared that someone had started the fire intentionally.

Hayes observed that a rear door was left open, which is the suspected entry and exit point for the suspect.

The owner of the residence said that she and others who live in the home had been gone for a while and when they returned, just minutes before the fire department arrived, they saw the laundry room area was set on fire. The owner did say that the rear door was left unlocked.
