Pre-K and kindergarten registration approaching

Registration for Pre-K and kindergarten students for the 2013-2014 school year is March 4 to 8.

Parents or legal guardians may register students for Pre-K and kindergarten at the following locations:

•Troup County School System Office of Student Assignment, 100 N. Davis Road, building C, March 4 to 8, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. with extended hours March 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

•Hogansville Elementary School, March 4 to 8, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

•West Point Elementary School, March 4 to 8, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended hours March 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Pre-K students must be 4 years of age on or before Sept. 1. Required documents for Pre-K registration include a certified birth certificate, copy of the child’s social security card, proof of address, completed affidavit of residency and a photo ID for the parent or legal guardian. Students who register for Pre-K after March 8 will be placed on a waiting list.

Kindergarten students must be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1. Required documents for kindergarten registration include a certified birth certificate, copy of the child’s social security card, proof of address, completed affidavit of residency, a photo ID for the parent or legal guardian, Georgia Immunization Form 3231 and Georgia Eye, Ear and Dental Form 3300.

In accordance with Troup County school policies, proof of immunization will be a requirement of the process for students registering for kindergarten. Students currently enrolled in Troup County public or private Pre-K programs must register for kindergarten. Students who register for kindergarten after March 8 will be assigned to a class based on available seats in the zone in which they reside.

Parents registering students for kindergarten or students new to Troup County Schools must provide the Georgia Immunization Form 3231 and the Georgia Eye, Ear and Dental Form 3300.

The residence of the parent/legal guardian determines the school attendance zone. For more information about the registration process and forms, visit www.troup.org.

Acceptable forms of proof of residency include a lease agreement, recent rent receipt, recent utility or telephone bill, tax bill, mortgage deed or sales contract. Unacceptable forms for proof of residency include a driver’s license, Medicaid card, voter ID or TV cable bill.
