John Michael Wyatt, 74, of Opelika, AL, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL.
Funeral Services for Mr. Wyatt will be conducted at 12:00 noon (11:00 CST), Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Vance Memorial Chapel 3738 HWY 431 North, Phenix City, AL, with Bro. Rusty Sowell officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8:00 pm (5-7:00 CST) at the funeral home.
Mr. Wyatt was born in LaGrange, GA, to the late Luther Mandeville Wyatt and Myrl Griffin Wyatt. John attended Mercer University earning a degree in law. John then served as a JAG officer in the United States Army, after which he joined the established law firm of his father Luther M. Wyatt, where he remained until retirement.
Mr. Wyatt was very active in many civic, fraternal and professional organizations to include: LaGrange, GA, B.P.O.E. since 1967 serving as Exalted Ruler for 2 terms, Kiwanis Club of LaGrange, GA, LaGrange Masonic Lodge, Troup County Bar Association, Georgia Bar Association, and American Bar Association and served as attorney for Georgia Elks Aidmore Children’s Home.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wyatt was preceded in death by one brother, Charles C. Wyatt.
Survivors include his loving wife of 15 years Brenda Brooks Wyatt; two sons: Thomas M. Wyatt and Scott Riggs of LaGrange, GA; three daughters: Stephanie Busby of Opelika, AL, Jessie McConnell and husband Doug of Opelika, AL and Chancey Senn and husband Wayne of Opelika, AL; two sisters: Elizabeth Wyatt Deen and husband Grady of Baxley, GA, and Katherine Wyatt Robinson and husband Thomas of LaGrange, GA; one brother: Smitty Wyatt and wife Nancy of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren: Michaelangelo Wyatt, Annacapri Wyatt, Robert Busby, Jim Busby, Dillon Busby, Megan McConnell, Dusty McConnell, Jonathan Senn and Braxton Senn. Mr. Wyatt also leaves behind much extended family and many friends.
