With the start of Region 5-AAAA play later this week, the Grangers (6-5) have won four consecutive games, and they’re above .500 for the first time this season.
LaGrange kept its win streak going with a 6-1 victory over Brookstone on Monday in a rain-shortened game in Columbus.
The Grangers fell behind 1-0 after two innings, but they scored two runs in the top of the fourth to go up 2-1, and they plated four runs in the top of the fifth to take control.
The game was delayed by lightning in the bottom of the sixth, and it never resumed.
Mitchell Donahue was the starting and winning pitcher for LaGrange, and he also had a hit and an RBI.
Jake Norton was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Drew Moody added a hit.
Next up for LaGrange will be its region opener on Friday at home against Shaw.
The plan all along has been for the team to be playing its best baseball of the season by the start of region play, and that seems to be the case for the Grangers.
“I’ve been stressing to our guys, we’ve got to get better every day. We have to be good come March 22 (against Shaw),” LaGrange head coach Todd Herrington said. “That’s what we’re getting ready for.”
