The Chick-fil-A race series will return to LaGrange Saturday. The 5K and 1-mile race benefits the LaGrange WinShape Camps for Communities.
“I’m really excited about this opportunity to raise more than $17,000 and send at least 112 kids to camp this year,” said Josh Sells, operator of Chick-fil-A on Commerce Avenue. Both Chick-fil-A stores in LaGrange are sponsors of the race along with local sponsors Mike Patton Auto Family, Joy 93-FM and Emory Clark-Holder Clinic.
The summer camp will be held June 10-14 at Lafayette Christian School and is hosted by Chick-fil-A and four local churches: Baptist Tabernacle, First Baptist on the Square, New Community Church and Western Heights Baptist Church.
The race is one of a national series offered by the fast-food chain and includes ChronoTrack chip timing, USATF certified and sanctioned course and is a Peachtree Road Race qualifier. All registered runners receive a Chick-fil-A dri-fit shirt.
Registration and runner check-in begins at 7 a.m. at Callaway Stadium, and registration closes at 7:50 a.m. The 5K race begins at 8 a.m. and the 1-mile fun run/walk begins at 9 a.m. with awards for both races presented at 9:30 a.m. There is a pre-race Zumba warm-up beginning at 7:20 a.m.
At the finish line, a family fun zone is offered for children and includes a bounce house, face painting, a crazy hair station, a photo booth and a Home Depot-sponsored craft.
Free Chick-fil-A for a year will be awarded to the fastest runner and also to the runner with the most spirit. Pre-race registration is $25 and the day of the race will be $30.
