Barbara J. “Bobbie” Newberry, 85, of LaGrange passed away on December 24, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Bobbie was born August 18, 1927, in Columbus, Georgia, daughter of the late Bernard J. and Alma Mooty Jones. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and for many years was active in the Women of the Church. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, William Roswell Newberry.

Survivors include her children, Gary and Pam Newberry of Savannah, Craig and Leigh Newberry of LaGrange, and Carol and Craig Hill of Canton; grandchildren, Catherine Hill, Alison Hill, and Brandy Wall; a sister, Ann Scott of Flowery Branch; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will gather at the funeral home to receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012, in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. R. Allen Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either St. Mark’s Episcopal Church or the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Barbara J. “Bobbie” Newberry. Those wishing to share a condolence or remembrance with the family may do so by visiting www.shlagrange.com.
