Mrs. Bertha Fisher, 84, of 708 Avenue K in West Point, passed away Tuesday at Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley. Mrs. Fisher, a native of Sampson County, North Carolina was born February 29, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Rob Peterson and Florence Bennett. She attended the Snow Hill School, Roseboro, NC and joined the Snow Hill Baptist Church. Later, she united with the New Harmony C.M.E. Church and worked faithfully with the Missionary Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James F. (“Buddy”) Fisher; son: Wilbert Fisher and daughter: Judy Fisher. Survivors include daughters: Jannie M. (Forrest) Johnson, West Point; Gail (William) Davis, Kingston, NY; sons: Joseph G. (Nellie) Fisher, Roseboro, NC; Phillip C. (Annette) Fisher, Kingston, NY; daughter-in-law, Earnestine Fisher, Wallace, NC; brothers: Edward Earl Peterson, Poughakeepsie, NY; James Peterson, Virginia Beach, VA; June Peterson, CT; sister, Mary Lee Peterson, Newsburgh, NY; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; special caregivers, Dedria Winston and Brenda “Popeye” Butler, many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home from 5 until 6PM. The funeral service and burial will be Monday, January 14, 2013 in Clinton, NC.
