Mr. Hubert “Peanut” Strong Jr. of Franklin passed away Friday at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Mr. Strong, a native of Antioch, Troup County, Georgia was born December 6, 1919, and was the son of the late Hubert Sr. and Matilda Strong. He was one of eight children. All preceded him in death.

He was married to Irene Allen Strong on June 1, 1945. Eight children were born to their union. His wife preceded him in death in 2003 and a daughter, Lera.

Hubert was employed for the Heard County Board of Education as a bus driver and mechanic. He retired after 30 years. In addition he worked for the Heard County Transit for Senior Citizens and Edmondson and Lee Funeral Home.

Survivors include his children: Evelyn I. Strong, Stockbridge, GA; Velma J. (Charlie Ray) Thompson, Carrollton, GA; Josephine Strong, Morrow, GA; Gladys O. (Walter) Tolbert, Stockbridge, GA; Reuben Howard (Gloria) Strong, Franklin; Hollis C. (Barbara) Strong, LaGrange; Lorenzo (Vanessa) Strong, Conyers, GA; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, three god-daughters; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, February 8, 2013, at 1:00PM at the Stateline Baptist Church in Glenn. Dr. W. T. Edmondson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will be at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Gloria Strong at 767 Whitley O’Neal Road in Franklin.
