West Georgia Homebuilders Association this year celebrated its 28th year of awarding scholarships to local high school students who are pursuing careers in a building-related field.

Students applying must be involved in various activities in school and their community, and be in the top 25 percent of their class.

The 2015 scholarship recipients are Rachel Arnold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Arnold; Hallie Hale, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Hale; and Lauren Yates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Yates.

In 1987 the Hooper Knight Memorial Scholarship was established by the West Georgia Homebuilders Association in memory of Hooper Knight, a longtime Troup County builder and member of the association.

Membership in West Georgia HBA is open to anyone in the building industry or a related field such as bankers, real-estate agents and sub-contractors.

Anyone interested in becoming a member may call Ann Anderson at 706-882-5561.
