The Troup County Master Gardener Extension volunteers awarded two $1,000 scholarships to Quinten Brown of LaGrange High School and Jessie Jackson of Troup High School.

Quinten is the son of Mark and Debra Brown of Luthersville and Jessie is the daughter of Greg and Nan Jackson of LaGrange. Plaques recognizing their achievements were also presented to both high schools.

Awards are based on academic scholarship, participation in FFA and 4-H activities, school and community activities and desire to major in an agriculture field. Both students were awarded the Georgia State FFA Degree and awarded FFA Proficiency Awards.

Jackson was also chapter president and received the Star Chapter FFA Award. She also participated in many 4-H activities and was the leaders of the 4-H club in Troup County.

Brown was LaGrange High School’s FFA chapter vice president and was a member of the National Honor Society, Governors Honors Program and an Eagle Scout.

Both students are set to attend Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College in fall.
