Two employees of a LaGrange restaurant were robbed at gunpoint Thursday morning. Two women, ages 63 and 43, were working at The Right Spot restaurant at 404 Whitesville Road about 5:30 a.m. when two masked men approached the restaurant, aimed guns at them and demanded an undisclosed amount of money, according to LaGrange police. Neither woman was injured in the incident. Police were investigating. Woman claims someone tried to run her over A LaGrange woman told police Thursday that another woman tried to run her over with a car in the parking lot of a convenience store in south LaGrange. The woman reported to police that she was in the parking lot of the Bay Food Store at 1312 Hamilton Road on Wednesday when the other woman allegedly tried to strike her with her car. The woman told police she’d received a threatening Facebook message from the driver prior to the incident and later another message that indicated the only reason the driver didn’t strike her was because another person got in the way. Police contacted the driver of the vehicle who said the woman who reported the incident had climbed on the hood of her car and she was moving the car to get her off. The reporting woman did not provide any witnesses or other evidence of the alleged altercation. An officer advised both women to discontinue contact and call police if a similar situation arises again. Police called after alleged punch thrown Police were called to a fight Thursday evening at a residence in the first block of Whitaker Street. A woman there who had called police said a man at the residence “cold cocked” her and punched her in the face, according to a report. The woman later said the man pushed her in the face with an open hand, causing her to become dazed. Police wrote in the incident report that the woman’s face was not bruised or swollen. The woman told police she’d had a single shot of alcohol prior to the fight. When officers spoke to the man, he said he was working on a vehicle in the front of the residence and he’d also been drinking. He denied ever touching the woman. Because of conflicting statements, officers asked the woman to take a breath alcohol test, which registered at 0.247 blood alcohol content. Officers advised both parties that due to lack of evidence and conflicting statements, neither party would be cited in the incident. They were advised to stay separate from one another. Wife allegedly attacks husband A fight between a separated husband and wife prompted a police response Thursday afternoon to an apartment in the 600 block of Revis Street. The husband told police he was walking down Revis Street when his wife, from whom he is separated, threw a rock at him and used foul language toward him. The man told police he kept walking, but when he arrived at the apartment, the woman grabbed him around his neck and nearly caused him to fall off a porch. The fight continued inside the apartment when the woman allegedly threw a jar of hair grease at the man. A neighbor from a next-door apartment allegedly helped remove the woman from the residence. The woman was charged with battery under the Family Violence Act. Woman allegedly finds man sleeping in laundry room A 26-year-old man was arrested on charges of criminal trespass after a woman found him sleeping in her laundry room at a residence in the first block of Cox Street on Thursday morning. The woman told police she was going into the laundry room shortly after 8 a.m. and found the man sleeping there. He allegedly ran from the laundry room and the woman called police. Officers responded, setup a perimeter and used K9s to search for the man. He was quickly found and detained near Ridley Avenue. Officers arrested the suspect and took him to Troup County Jail. Man turns in found wedding ring A man on Thursday gave police a wedding ring he found in the parking lot of a Food Depot grocery store on Hogansville Road about two weeks ago. The man said he found the ring in the parking lot and didn’t think it was real until he took it to a jewelry store to be evaluated. Upon learning the ring was genuine, he took it to the police department. An officer placed the ring into evidence for safe keeping.
