LaGRANGE — LaGrange police are investigating a hit and run accident at the corner of Jackson and Parker streets that may have involved a stolen vehicle.

The wreck occurred just after 2:30 Thursday afternoon in front of the Hillside Apartment complex.

According to the responding officer’s report, a grey Ford Taurus was northbound on Parker Street when it failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of Jackson Street. The car collided with an older model, white Honda Accord.

No one was reported seriously injured in the accident.

An African-American male exited the Ford Taurus after the accident and fled east on Jackson Street, a witness reported to police.

Shortly after the collision, a woman showed up at the scene to report her Ford Taurus stolen, the officer reported. She told officers she had parked the car in front of her mother’s home and left the keys in the ignition with the windows open. The victim said an hour later she was notified her car was involved in the accident at Parker and Jackson streets.

She told police she is the only one who drives the vehicle.

The airbags inside the Taurus on the drivers side were deployed.

Police dusted the car for fingerprints.

Officers were still investigating.
